Pete’s Burger is a classic South Gate burger spot with a big menu, generous portions, and the kind of casual feel that fits breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late comfort food craving. Located at 13235 Paramount Blvd, South Gate, CA 90280, the restaurant keeps things simple in the best way: burgers, fries, breakfast plates, sandwiches, burritos, tacos, and sides made for people who want a filling meal without a formal dining setup.

The burger menu is the main draw. Guests can choose a hamburger, cheeseburger, double burger, bacon burger, double bacon burger, or a bigger combo with fries and a drink. The burgers come across as old-school California fast casual food: soft buns, savory patties, fresh toppings, and that familiar sauce and fries pairing that makes a burger meal feel complete. Reviews often mention big burgers, crisp fries, and the kind of portion size that can turn a quick stop into a full meal.

Pete’s Burger also has a strong sandwich lineup. The pastrami sandwich gets a lot of attention, especially from diners who like a hearty, salty, deli style bite. The club sandwich, BLT, patty melt, turkey sandwich, grilled ham and cheese, fish sandwich, gyro sandwich, steak sandwich, and chicken breast sandwich give the menu more range than a standard burger counter. That variety helps the restaurant serve groups with different cravings.

Breakfast is another reason locals keep the place in mind. The menu includes breakfast burritos, egg sandwiches, ham and egg sandwiches, chorizo and eggs, huevos rancheros, rib eye steak and eggs, omelets, hash browns, French toast, and pancakes. A breakfast burrito with egg, cheese, hash browns, and meat makes an easy grab and go meal, while a plate with eggs and sides feels better for a slower morning.

The side orders add to the comfort food mood. Fries, chili cheese fries, onion rings, zucchini, mushrooms, chicken nuggets, chicken strips, hot dogs, corn dogs, and tacos help round out the menu. It is the kind of place where one person can order a cheeseburger, another can go for pastrami, and someone else can pick breakfast, all from the same counter.

The vibe at Pete’s Burger is casual, local, and food first. It feels like a neighborhood stop made for regulars, families, workers on lunch break, and anyone craving a big plate without extra fuss. Pete’s Burger stands out in South Gate for classic burgers, pastrami, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, fries, and generous everyday meals served in a relaxed setting.

I'm incredibly let down, which forced me to adjust my rating down to just one star. My takeout order was specifically for zucchini, and despite paying for a complete serving, I received significantly less than half a plate. Being hungry, I'm truly shocked at feeling so completely shortchanged. It would have been far better if they had simply informed me they were low on stock, rather than charging full price for a plate that was clearly half-empty. This whole situation is incredibly frustrating.

I found this to be an excellent destination for satisfying my burger cravings. They offer a great variety, including the tasty junior burger, their signature special, and the impressive double cheeseburger special.

My recent visit left me quite disappointed, earning a low rating because the burgers here consistently feature very thin meat and are overpriced. This time, I opted for breakfast items, which were equally underwhelming: the pancakes were plain, the eggs arrived overcooked and bland, and the sausage was unfortunately burnt, though the bacon was fine. The hash browns were also a letdown, being both undercooked and expensive, making the entire meal feel like poor value. The only redeeming item I found was their chili fries; they were genuinely good, offered a generous portion sufficient for sharing, and were reasonably priced. Service on this occasion was just okay. Beyond the food, the parking lot is quite small, and while they do offer a convenient drive-thru, I noticed the dining area itself was rather dirty.
